Renewable sources of energy

RENEWABLE SOURCES OF ENERGY

This video talks of different kinds of energy: solar energy, wind energy, hydro energy, geo-thermal energy, tidal energy, wave energy and biomass energy.

SOLAR ENERGY: The Earth recieves 1366 waats/sq.Mt. of solar energy. Photovoltaic or solar cell produces electricity directly from sunlight. There also is a solar panel.

WIND ENERGY: A 8 m/s breeze blowing throught a 100 meter diameter rotor would move almost 77000 kilograms of air per second producing 2.5 M W of energy. There are wind machines to produce elecrticity.

HYDRO ENERGY: There are hydroelectric power sources.

GEO-THERMAL ENERGY: It is strictly not a renewable source as it can get depleted over time at a location. Geysers are the source of geothermal energy.

TIDAL ENERGY: It is the power achieved by capturing energy contained in moving mass due to tides.

WAVE ENERGY: It is energy of ocean surface waves and capturing it to get useful work. There are wave power plant.

BIOMASS ENERGY: Biomass includes biodegradable waste that can be burnt as fuel.
